Robert ZILDJIAN started Sabian.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe 70s Zildjian Canadian Ks became 80s Sabian HHs, and are basically the scion of the vintage Old School (Istanbul) Zildjian Ks...before they disappeared for a decade and then entered the modern era. I believe the Canadian Ks (and Earlier HHs) were Hand Hammered by the Zildjian artisans from Istanbul who were brought over to the Zildjian Canadian plant in the late 60s\/70s.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWeighing in at a GLORIOUS \u003cspan class=\"il\"\u003e2662\u003c\/span\u003e grams this Sabian HH 20” plays like a SUPER DARK CRISP Medium HeavyRide-a la Tony Williams ball park weight. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe tone is DRY for a fully lathed cymbal, very dark, clean, controlled, and very smooth and balanced. As you would imagine, the stick attack on this beauty is absolutely fantastic. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis 20” yields a chime-like, focused, low pitched stick definition that remains musical and is NOT clanky.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis HH 20” projects extremely well, better than any modern K that I’ve encountered, it has no problem cutting through in amplified music but can easily be reined in when played delicately out at the edge, as you can hear. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt’s a 30+ year old Hand Hammered 20” \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ein the vein of the Zildjian Istanbul cymbalsmiths!
