Wonderfully dry and focused Sabian Neil Peart Signature PARAGON 14” hihats in great shape.
As many of you may know, the Peart Paragon Series is a wonderful bastard child of the AA and the AAX...with a Hand Hammered bell. The top is finely lathed liKe an AAX, however the bottom is lathed Traditional AA. And hell, that bell IS heavily hammered (check out the closeups.)
Sabian describes these hihats as:
“With strong pedal response, solid and powerful projection, these hats are highly responsive and extremely effective for all styles.”
The weights are 961 grams for the Top Cymbal, and 1484 grams for the Bottom Cymbal. And those weights deliver a solid CHICK. Medium Thin top with a Heavy bottom. The tone of these Paragons is surprisingly focused and dry. They have a great mix of bright and dark in the mix. They project extremely well and excel in medium to loud settings but they don’t clank!
Crisp. Clean tone. Incisive. Cutting but controlled and not heavy handed. Fantastic chick tone. Incredibly articulate with a naturally aged dry tone.
No issues. Great shape with a killer patina that has befriended this pair. They’re incredibly versatile.
