Sabian has busted their ass for the last 40 years trying to outshine their family members (Zildjian) and one of the ways they have gained attention in this hardscrabble world of cymbalmaking is through experimentation.

Such is the case with this ingenius Click Hats. As you can see, 8" of these 14"s are heavily hammered but UNLATHED. The remaining 5" are beautifully lathed in the famous HHX design. The result are hihats that has all the wonderful warm and complex quality of the HHXs COMBINED with a darker, drier, attack reminiscent of the Sabian RAW Series (Raw Ride etc.)

And the beauty of this design is that you can extract different tones from the different areas of these hats. Obviously the unlathed raw part yields a dark, dry tone with an outstanding stick attack. If you meander down to the golden edge, you get a warmer, smoother fuller tone.

The weights on these 14" HHX Click Hats are 986 grams for the Top and 1278 grams for the Bottom. The tone is dark, warm, and complex HOWEVER they are a pinch more TIGHT and CONTROLLED compliments of that raw and unlathed portion.

Complex. Part warm and part DRY. Semi-dark. Slightly controlled with a light Hand Hammered airiness. Fantastic chick. Extremely articulate-especially for HHXs.
