They're in PERFECT CONDITION! ONLY PLAYED FOR THE SOUND FILE!

Here's Mehmet's take on these beauties:

"Simply a stunningly beautiful pair of old Turkish made HiHats. The top and bottom cymbal are perfectly nested from a lifetime of playing. The chick is gorgeous, the stick sound…sublime. But the cymbal masters at Istanbul Mehmet were not to be daunted and the replica HiHats were, in fact, the first of the models to be approved."

"Just slightly larger than 18”, the Crash has a crack in the body and a smaller crack at the edge. Mysteriously, however, there is no discernible buzz or noise from these cracks. The crack in the body does, however, act as an in-built ‘attenuator’ accelerating the decay of the crash. These sonic characteristics have been replicated through a careful combination of additional hammering and specific lathing."

"The most celebrated Ride cymbal in history? Undoubtedly. Long regarded as the epitome of the ideal old Turkish cymbal Ride sound. Used by Tony on all the Quintet recordings up to ‘Sorcerer’, after which it was forced in to retirement due to increasing fragility, this magnificent cymbal now bears the scars of the most intense Ride cymbal playing in history. Drilled out repeatedly in several places over the years, to halt the spread of cracks, with a piece flung off at the edge under his furious assault, Tony, still refused to surrender his prize. Despite and ‘because of’, these historic characteristics, this cymbal retains its utterly remarkable sound and all the characteristics for which it became so famous. Its unique combination of dry, clean stick sound, with complex, dark, orchestral overtones, presented the greatest challenge to the Istanbul Mehmet artisans, and they met it."

These cymbals are exceptional!!! The time and effort put into this set is immediately apparent with the first strike.

Weighing in at a lovely 2286 grams for the ride, 1299 grams for the crash, and 997 & 1150 grams for the hihats, these Mehmet plays like an amazing set of semi-complex, wonderfully DARK sounding, Thin to Medium Thin cymbals. The tone hints of darkness and is still glowingly warm!! The stick attack on the ride is prominent but subtle!  The crash possess that GOLDEN GLOWING TURKISH WASH OF YORE! And the hihats have a beautifully hand hammered complexity, yet are still controllable and yet solid!

Some of the nicest cymbals on the market, period! AND they are exquisitely matched as a set!

There ya' go!

You can use this MEHMET Tony Williams set for whatever your heart's desire. Obviously they're great for jazz, blues, ballads and soul. But that's only if you dream in black and white. They would be amazing for mellow rock...and pop, funk, fusion, acoustic and singer songwriter gigs, and definitely session and studio work.

AND THESE beauties are VERY HARD TO FIND IN THE WILD! HARDLY ANYONE ACTUALLY HAS THESE IN STOCK! LIKE ACTUALLY IN FRONT OF THEM, WITH SOUND FILES, AS I DO!

So do yourself a favor and grab this ISTANBUL MEHMET TONY WILLIAMS TRIBUTE CYMBAL SET...AND HANG ON TO IT!!!

THIS SET WILL ONLY APPRECIATE OVER THE YEARS! KEEP THEM IN GREAT SHAPE!!!
