THE THINNEST Vintage Zildjian ISTANBUL K Splash 11” ONLY 249 g VERY EARLY! Sounds Like 1920s
Well, this one looks VERY EARLY! Really crazy stamp on this one. Still has the K Zildjian and CIE stamp from what I imagine is the 1910s or 1920s.
And it’s the THINNEST Vintage Zildjian Istanbul K Splash I’ve ever come across! Sounds like a Louis Armstrong recording from the 1920s.
Only 249 grams on an 11”. And yes! That makes for a very SPLASHY tone!
I would guess it’s a century old. I mean that’s crazy it’s even still here and playable!
Super old school DIXIELAND Baby Dodds, BUDDY RICH or GENE KRUPA vibe! Perfect for vintage setups and tones.
Who the hell knows how this beauty survived! It must have been played by a mouse!! It's 100 years old and ONLY 249 grams!! The edges bend with ease. The thinnest of any cymbal you will find.
A perfect resource to see how cymbals used to be made! By hand in TURKEY.
This 11” is EASILY bendable and has all the warm, dark ultra-classy tone you would expect from a GREAT sounding EARLY Vintage Zildjian Paperthin ISTANBUL K Splash.
It actually goes "SPLASH” it doesn't clank its way through life like some of its modern, heavier brethren
Responsive, VERY complex and trashy with a FAST decay. Exotic sounding. And dig the lathing and the bell-that ain't a modern Zildjian, no way.
If you want that Vintage sound, then go to the source. This cymbal is
THE SOURCE!!
Obviously this Hand Hammered Vintage Zildjian Istanbul K 11” Splash is a no brainer for jazz, ballads, blues, swing. dixieland and trio work. But its dark, rich tone would be a welcomed addition in soul, early rockabilly and R&B, folk, acoustic settings, singer/songwriter gigs, and definitely session work.
Has typical light wear/use on a 100 year old Paper a thin. The center hole has been enlarged so I am including a grombal (which you can use or not use)
Incredible period piece that actually SOUNDS terrific. Won’t ever find one this thin!
