The Famous Vintage Paiste SOUND CREATION 18” “Dark Crash” Crash. And super clean too!

So complex for a Paiste it sounds PART PANG!

As many a Cymbalholic knows, Jack DeJohnette was a big fan of the Sound Creations in the 70s and 80s. And this beauty has that vibe!

Paiste described this flagship series crash as:
“A dark, earthy crash cymbal with amazing power and projection. Response is very quick even though the basic pitch is low. A very good cymbal for soft ride playing (especially if played with a light stick). It is also very effective with mallets and sticks for cymbal rolls.
The feeling of this cymbal is ‘powerful, warm and dark.”

Deep golf ball hammering - which is very rare on a Paiste. Super fine bright golden lathing. The lathing is ultra-thin - extremely silky.

Being the coveted Sound Creation this Paiste has the classic Vintage B20 alloy that they used for their Original 602s.  This was their creme de la creme series in the 1970s and early 80s.

1720 grams makes it ride-friendly!

What’s amazing is as promised, this Dark Crash really does make a great Light Ride. It has a terrific smooth attack that has that ineffable Sound Creation tone. Paiste has never duplicated it.
