- Here’s a fairly hard to find Zildjian these days - although it was an industry standard for decades:
- The Factory Stamped 18” Zildjian PING Ride in Excellent Condition.
- As many a cymbal enthusiast and engineer knows, the 18” Ping was on many recordings throughout the 70s and 80s. The smaller 18” size records well because it is faster and tighter than its larger brothers and has a clean, tight attack with a brisk high end.
- ALL THE FOCUS YOU'D EXPECT FROM A PING RIDE WITH THE CONTROL OF AN 18".
- Weighing in at a lovely 1766 grams, this 18" has a Medium constitution-exactly what you would expect from a 40 year old Zildjian PING. The attack is aggressive and remarkably PING-Y! The tone is Bright and fairly focused. The pitch is medium high and cuts superbly and the overtones gravitate toward the high end. HOWEVER the wash is more controlled, thanks to that 18" diameter.
- The bell is solid and cuts extremely well without being hulking! Classic Vintage 70s/80s studio vibe.
- No issues. Great shape with a terrific 4 decade old patina that has graced it.
- Not an easy Zildjian to find these days.
