- Here’s a unique pair of Paiste PROTOTYPE 13s”! Look at these! Factory Combo Hihats! One is fully lathed like a Masters and the other has a WIDE LATHE almost like a Zildjian High Definition Ride!
- Crazy!!! And they’re 13s”! Ultra tight and crisp. And these Prototypes have a Hand Hammered complexity that you don’t normally hear on Paistes.
- They have a light, complex liveliness when opened, but remain extremely tight and focused when closed.

And at 1168 and 1116 grams they have the similar weight and constitution as the Hi-Def Hihats too. I prefer the bottom cymbal (Wide Lathe) on top and that is how I recorded them.

Clearly Paiste experimented with in their Masters Series - these rare 13s” are Hand Hammered and have the complexity and alternating brown and gold lathing that the Masters Series explored with a pinch of 602. One if the cymbals is fully lathed. One wide lathed.
- Medium complex with a broad spread. Semi-dry terrific stick articulation on top with a controlled Hand Hammered complexity underneath.
- Cutting. Articulate. Semi-dry and complex - especially for Paiste. Terrific attack and projection when needed.
- The Masters Series is awesome but they’re overall very thin and washy.
- This is the counterpart you wish they offered.
- Paiste makes nothing like these 13” Crisp Complex Protos.
- No issues. Amazing condition. Aging beautifully.
