That early golf-ball-hammered K Custom Special Dry Top is…well…DRY - much drier than the re-design version and much more crisp and focused. And that’s a great foundation for an articulate hihat tone. Now combine that with the fully lathed K Light Bottom and you’ve added a bit more warmth and airy sibilance.
This pairing is much more balanced than the early K Special Dries but also much more tight and controlled than the complex and sloshier modern K Dries.

And they are of course a lot more dry and crisp than the regular K LIGHTS. Terrific CHICK tone.
