I have NEVER seen this cymbal before! The factory 2002 17” “RIDE”. And it’s incredibly CLEAN for its age!
And in the BLACK LABEL! Produced within the first decade 2002s debuted!
Here’s an incredibly RARE Paiste that is playable. And definitely collectible!
One of the rarer Vintage Paistes, hell the 18” is hard to find. This 17” is damn-near-impossible to find. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen another.
Mythical Vintage BLACK Label Paiste 17” Factory Stamped “RIDE”. Set your Time Machine for BILL BRUFORD or 80s ECM recordings because that’s the smooth and crystalline tone!
CLEAR AND TIGHT - Roy Haynes type tone - Crystalline. Very smooth, sounds like early Paul Wertico or Danny Gottlieb vibes. Light. Bright but with a mellowness.
This unique 17” size supplies a very crisp and controlled tone that is extremely responsive - it plays a lot faster than your standard 20” or 22”. Tight. Clean. Focused. Incredibly articulate and with a solid bell - especially for such a smaller cymbal.
Plays like a very clean and smooth glowing Tight Ride or crystalline Flat Ride with a pinch more body.
Must have for any 2002 fan or Paiste collector. A great choice for a studio because it can do a lot - couple it with another 17” and you have a killer pair of STEVE JORDAN style hihats. Crash on it for a fuller 17” 2002 Crash tone with more projection than your standard issue.
Terrific for smaller setups and lighter percussion rigs. Cuts but hardly takes up any room.
No issues. Extremely clean for being over half-a-century old!
