Ahhh.  A Holy Grail Vintage 1981 Paiste BLUE LABEL FLAT RIDE in the rare and immortalized 18” size!

Classic “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs” Roy Haynes sound!

And from ‘81!  One of the earliest of Blue Label years! Classic ECM 80s Pat Metheny tone too. Nothing else like it! Ultra clean sounding with a pinpoint, crystalline definition. It’s iconic.

Weighing in at a lovely 1777 grams, this Rare Paiste plays like a Classic Blue Label Medium Flat Ride. The edges are ever so slightly bendable. The stick definition is EXTREMELY strong - compliments of the absence of a bell AND the Medium weight.

The overall vibe is SMOOTH, SHIMMERING AND GLASSY, and definitely MELLOW (just like the recording.) Being a Paiste 602 Flat Ride, the ensuing wash is shimmering, subtle and very controlled but the edges wobble lightly.

Like playing a soft rain.

Over 40 years old with very strong logos and a beautiful golden patina.  

Very hard to actually find from the 80s BLUE LABEL period - NOT the “Re-issue” but the actual ISSUE!  Collectible.  And definitely playable.
