- WTF is THIS??? Look at that small Zildjian stamp!! And there’s NO “A CUSTOM” logo! And the FLAT Ride debuted in 1995 - after the serial numbers.
- Well THIS ONE has the engraved Zildjian stamp but NO serial number. It was made for a Prototype made for an artist. One of the very early A Custom renderings.
- Unique Zildjian PROTOTYPE Early A Custom 20” FLAT TOP RIDE! And this is a very GLASSY, shimmering Zildjian.
- Long gone the way of the dodo. And that’s a shame because the combination of a Brilliant Finish on a Flat Ride is magnificent!
- As many of you may know the absence of a bell gives the Flat Ride a very pronounced stick attack while the overtones and volume remain very controlled.
- And that is exactly the case with this two-dimensional wonder! Add the dark, glassy shimmer of a Brilliant Finish and you have a glowing warm, low pitched and smooth, DARK mellow ride with incredible stick attack.
- 2126 grams gives it a pinpoint definition but makes it light-years from a Ping. Much darker and subtle, very dynamic and musical. Slightly bendable edges make it soft and pliable.
- No issues. Clean with a beautiful, 35 year old natural patina that has befriended it.
- Zildjian offers nothing like this tone today. Great for low to medium loud volumes. Incredible under the mic.
- And this is one-off Collectible beauty! Never seen that crazy logo before. Very early model.
