Vintage Zildjian 1960s HAND HAMMERED PAPER THIN 22” Crash Ride AMAZING! ONLY 2194 g
Incredibly beautiful well-over-half-century Vintage Hand Hammered Zildjian right here and it’s one of the THINNEST 22s” I’ve seen. The kind we’re always hunting for. And in the generous-sized 22”!
It’s ONLY 2194 grams. Which is really damn thin - it’s very hard to find a 60 year old 22” under 2500 grams. This beauty is a true LIGHT or PAPER THIN.
1960s stamp but everything about this gem is much closer to the 1950s block stamp. It’s Hand Hammered and has that famous, dark and buttery, soft feel and sound. Crashes as well as it rides.
Beautiful rounded-over bell.
With a 2194 gram weight it lives in the PAPER Thin LIGHT Ride DARK Crash Ride range, it has a light, mellow slightly dry attack that is followed by a soft and subtle, controlled DARK wash.
What’s amazing is that you can play this big 22” very, very lightly and softly and it still sings. The dynamic range on this one is amazing.
Dark. Mellow. Semi-dry from decades of living, glowing golden patina.
When you open up on it and crash, it unleashes a torrent of Vintage Crash tone but in a Massive 22”!
Fantastic 5.5” bell is that is solid for such a thin cymbal.
Again, this is an incredibly versatile 22” - you don’t find a cymbal that can go from 1 - 10 and remain musical often - although I would not slam on it because it is thin.
Tell tale Hand Hammered waviness on the plain. Grommet professionally installed around the bell to halt a very small hairline crack. A few rough spots but nothing that affects the playability
Wonderfully versatile 22” from the golden age of both rock and jazz.
Don’t pay more for a modern “vintage homage” cymbal masquerading as old timey. Just get the actually Hand Hammered real one.
A sonic steal!
