Amazing Istanbul Mehmet 61st Anniversary 22” FLAT RIDE 2397 g RAW DRY BUT SMOOTH! Rare!

Perhaps my favorite cymbal we recorded in the last several months: 

Istanbul goes the extra mile on this rare series to combine darkness and Old World Hand-Hammering with a very smooth, articulate, controlled, and euphonic tone.

I have only seen three of these beauties: Rare Istanbul Mehmet 61st Anniversary FLAT Ride in the generous sized 22”. Amazing condition with a very light patina over a raw and factory per-aged blackened surface! 

Raw, blackened unlathed surface - imagine a TURK Flat Ride but smoother and more refined with a tremendous wobble! 

The absence of a bell gives flat rides a controlled, focused tone with a fantastic stick attack. And that is exactly what we have with this THIN 2397 gram beauty! 

Very tight, pin-point, prominent stick articulation with an organic, raw wash that lasts but a moment.

 
Lower pitched, organic, dark, slightly smokey but still smooth. A pinch of complexity but overall refined. 

Crash on it for lightning-like accents while riding.

 
No big company makes anything like this 22”. It’s Hand Hammered and has an incredible Old World tone and look. Blackened! Perfect for very low to medium, settings.  Amazing under the mic - I know because I just recorded with it. One of the nicest straight-up 22s” you’ll find - or not find.
