  • I love this 21”!  I’ve never seen one used as a Dry Sizzle Ride or Left Side Ride. 

  • But there we are!  And it’s amazing!  It’s like the Zildjian K Custom Left Side Ride but breathier and thinner and in a 21”!  
  • One of Sabian’s most versatile DRY Rides - like actually dry, as in terrific stick articulation with a quick decay and controlled overtones. 

  • And so of course Sabian removed it from their catalog! 

  • Why o’ why!!  

  • But you need not suffer in darkness. Have a listen to this exact cymbal!  

  • I happen to have right here this absolutely fantastic looking and sounding, DRY but not DEAD, Sabian 21” AAX Memphis Ride SIZZLE that’s in gorgeous condition. 

  • The weight is a perfect 2397 grams giving it a Thin to Medium Thin constitution - enough to throw off a great stick attack but still thin enough not to clank or being overbearing. 

  • Sabian describes this cymbal as:
    "With its raw surface cut with single-line lathing, this versatile model responds with a dry stick sound, controlled wash, a raw and cutting bell, and a crashable edge."

  • There are several unique features about this Sabian. As you can see, this cymbal has a barely lathed top surface with LARGE Classic AAX hammerings. And the underside has extremely FINE LATHING with a raw bell.

  • Weighing in at a lovely 2397 grams, this 21" plays like an earthy, Medium Thin DRY Ride with a hint complexity and Vintage breathiness. The tone is organic, medium DARK, and definitely DRY. The raw, slightly lathed top yields a very prominent stick attack with controlled overtones--like a Jojo Mayer or Ralph Peterson Ride, however the unlathed bottom enables the wash to breathe and billow out, but it STILL remains controlled. Very good definition with a medium dark, controlled organic wash.

  • Yes, you CAN actually CRASH on this thing. When shouldered, this Memphis Ride acts as a BIG Medium Thin or Medium DRY Crash Sizzle. And the bell is SOLID. Outfitted with two cluster rivets for the most beautiful, subtle sizzle - like it’s 1953.  

  • All this and then Sabian went and pulled it out from under us!!  

  • Perfect for soft to medium loud settings. 

  • No longer currently in production. 

  • Amazing shape. Perfect! And this is one of the nicest ones I’ve heard! It’s dry but still has light shadow of a wash.
