- Rare Vintage PRE SPLIT Istanbul Agop Mehmet Factory “PING RIDE” in fantastic shape! I’ve only seen one of two of these before!
- Wide Istanbul K style lathing with the early green logo and factory RED INK on the underside.
- Hand Hammered - Before ANYONE had seen this kind of craftsmanship and beauty! This is the late 80s/early 90s and this is THE company that ushered in the old world craftsmanship - the kind of artistry that fomented a movement of boutique cymbalsmiths.
- Istanbul’s old-world Zildjian Istanbul K-styled handiwork attracted the ears and signatures of jazz greats Mel Lewis and Elvin Jones. And this beauty is from that hallowed era.
- Check out the close-ups, this luscious 20” resembles that old-school Turkish K style craftsmanship. Truly hand hammered and hand made. Stamped in the iconic factory red ink “PING Ride.”
- What's great about this specific Agop Mehmet is that it's overall smooth and extremely well defined, it has a light complexity but the last 35 years have mellowed it perfectly.
- AND “PING” it does! But unlike Zildjian, this 20” has been shown hand hammered love!
- Darker and lower pitched than most 20s”. Could easily pass as a 22”.
- Weighing in at a Medium Heavy 2696 grams, this cymbal plays like a terrific, warm, Smooth PING-Y Ride. The stick attack is quite prominent and chime-like with a clean, pin-point definition. The ensuing wash is glowing warm, slightly-complex, and very smooth and musical.
- DRY and focused stick attack (for a fully lathed cymbal.) Subtle Turkish wash that breathes life into a ride pattern but still remains controlled.
Responsive. And a 6” bell that is SOLID and cuts! Very solid.
- Perfect for soft to loud and for anytime you want to play something with soul.
- Fantastic shape. Stunning deep golden patina.
- A very rare and musical cymbal with many gears that is a blast to explore.
