Rare Vintage 1950s Zildjian 24” BLOCK STAMP Ride Crash 3546 g INSANELY BEAUTIFUL! Does It ALL!!
One of the most beautiful cymbals I’ve ever seen or heard and a sample of the golden age of Zildjian cymbalmaking - the Hand Hammered Block Stamp era! Some of the finest cymbals ever made.
And this is an extremely rare 2 footer!! I’ve only seen a few of these. Swells and crashes like a dream! Just glorious. The end of the road for a great Zildjian A!
Very rare and glorious Vintage 24” 1950s BLOCK STAMP Hand Hammered Zildjian at a perfect 3546 grams.
As you can hear this one combines an exceptionally lush swell and crash - but when you pull up to ride, it has a distinctive shimmering stick attack - a light brilliance that percolates and cuts through nicely while remaining 1950s soft and supple in feel. And the bell has no problem slicing through guitars when needed.
That’s the beauty of Father Time putting 70 years of his handiwork into this 2 footer. The surface is weather and that dries out the stick definition perfectly.
You get the full cornucopia of sonic delights. Very dark, warm and lush. Softer and mellowed but has no problem in a mix. Unique stick definition but crashes so beautifully it could be in the orchestra.
This can easily be the only cymbal you bring to a gig! Super Brian Blade vibes. You can draw myriad tones out of this 24”. Encourages musicality!
This 24” was forged when Thelonious Monk was just hitting his stride (pardon the pun) and Paul McCartney was a wee teen.
But it’s right here and still making music - that’s what I love about cymbals. All of that is true and you can still go play this 24” tonight. That’s fascinating and inspiring.
