Fantastic condition Sabian Neil Peart Signature PARAGON hihats in the harder to find and Neil Peart friendly 13” size!
As many of you may know, the Peart Paragon Series is a wonderful bastard child of the AA and the AAX...with a Hand Hammered bell. The top is finely lathed liKe an AAX, however the bottom is lathed Traditional AA. And hell, that bell IS heavily hammered (check out the closeups.)
Sabian describes these hihats as:
“With strong pedal response, solid and powerful projection, these hats are highly responsive and extremely effective for all styles.”
And we all know Peart played 13s" back in the day, so these 13"s are actually more true to his early tone than the 14s".
The weights are 836 grams for the Top Cymbal, and 1138 grams for the Bottom Cymbal. And those weights deliver a solid CHICK. Medium Thin top with a Heavy bottom. The tone of these Paragons is semi-bright. They project extremely well and excel in medium to loud settings.
And being the 13s” they are slightly more controlled and have an overall quicker response and feel.
Crisp. Clean. Tight. Bright. Cutting. Fantastic chick tone. Incredibly articulate with a golden warmth.
