Zildjian K CONSTANTINOPLE 14” Hihats EARLY VERSION Dark & Dry and Awesome! 956 1184 g
Fascinating pair of earlier CONSTANTINOPLES right here - they have a soft and golden, very played-in feel and look with a drier tone than most you’ll come across.
Early K Cons rides are hard to find these days - but hell, the Hihats from this era are really hard to find!
The hammering, lathing and craftsmanship is much different from today’s version. And now add a quarter-century of aging - the alloy has had time to settle and mellow and chill. And it’s a wonderful thing! These specific K Cons have a dry complex sibilance that is remarkably smooth and tempered - more focused and mellower than the modern takes.
This particular pair of 14s” are very dark and low-pitched for the series - they could even pass as 15s.
At only 954 and 1186 grams, they’re thinner than your typical K Customs or New Beats and that thinner weight no doubt contributes to their darker tones and great responsiveness. But they have no problem cutting through a mix - they just don’t CLANK.
Definitely mic friendly. Aged two decades with a traditional, vintage old school look and sound. No logos. Still have the earlier, thinner Armand signature emblazoned on the underside.
A unique pair that has chilled and settled beautifully and will continue to age gracefully.
